Sofía Estela Oyarzún began working for The Columbia Chronicle as a bilingual reporter and photojournalist in January of 2024, and since has had work featured in Univisión, La Raza, Borderzine, Conexión Migrante and The Daily Herald Northwest Suburbs Newspaper.
Sofía’s time spent in Glenview, IL and Lo Barnechea, Chile inspired her focus on covering latino culture and immigration through bilingual reporting and journalistic photography. Sofía’s greatest gift ever received is her camera, as she uses it to capture stories and share them to as many audiences as possible.
Sofía strives to apply her skills to an international scale as a foreign correspondent, as she currently works towards that while studying Photojournalism at Columbia College Chicago.
